Reflection – Week of Sept. 26

We have been busy learning about a lot of new things. We did continue our Project Based Learning on the regions of Texas. My students are planning a trip for one family to visit Texas in one of the regions of Texas. They are including facts about the region, budget for the trip, adventures for the family and other things for the family to do. In math we have been working on learning multiplication and strategies that will help us with 2 digits by 2 digits. We have also been learning about the different types of fiction genres. This week out focus has been on traditional literature. We have also been working on our writing using kernels to help us plan and learning how to add details to our writing. We also learned about FANBOYS (conjunctions) to write compound sentences. We just finished learning about mixtures and solutions in science and will create a beach using different materials next week.  Next week, I am looking forward to starting the Global Read Aloud with my students. We will be reading PAX.

New School Year

I am looking forward to another great school year. Tonight at Meet your Teacher, I saw some students from last year that are excited about the new things coming to 5th grade. I also had a chance to meet 13 of my 18 new 4th graders. I enjoyed meeting each one of them and ready to start teaching them on Monday, Aug. 22, 2016. This is going to be  a terrific year.
